Igloos and Aurora Light

by Wesley & Judy

(OPENING)
Hello everyone! I'm Judy. We are in Greenland now. In this episode we will introduce an Inuit igloo and the aurora borealis.
(INTERVIEW)
J: We have a special guest - a local Eskimo. Welcome!
W: Hello! Welcome to the North Pole.
J: We are new here so can you tell us what we must see at the North Pole?
W: Ok! I think the most beautiful scenery is the aurora.
J: Great! Let's take a look!
J: Okay, we're in Greenland now. But where is the aurora?
W: You will never see the aurora during the day because the sun is too bright. We can only see the aurora at night.
J: What? Does this mean that we have to wait until sunset?
W: Yes. But we can do other things.
J: So what can we do?
W: Well ... let me see ... Oh! I can introduce our house, an igloo, to you.
「igloo」的圖片搜尋結果J: OK! Let's go!

J: This is your igloo? Wow! Do Eskimos still live in this kind of house?
W: Of course, we Eskimos love to keep our culture. We think an igloo is better than a modern house.
J: Is that so?
W: First, it is cheap and costs nothing. We can save our money for a vacation in Hawaii.
J: That sounds so great. Unlike us, we need to spend a lot of money to buy a house.
W: First of all, do you feel cold?
J: Oh, it's warmer than outside! How is the igloo able to keep warm?
W: Because the igloo is made of ice, leather and whalebone. They are insulating, so they can keep the heat inside the igloo without letting it escape.
J: Oh, I see.
J: We are curious about living in the igloo. Can you introduce that to us?
W: Sure. It is really inconvenient because we have to build the igloo by ourselves.
W: And we have to hunt animals by ourselves for meals.
J: What kind of animal do you eat?
W: We have many kinds of “gourmet” game animals like seal, hare, salmon, and so on.
J: Cool! Are they delicious?
W: Oh yeah. But you might not want to try some of them. Like seal ice-cream.
J: Ha! Ha! It sounds weird. I’d better skip it.
W: It is getting dark. Let’s go see the aurora!
J: Ok let’s go!

「aurora」的圖片搜尋結果W: Here is our aurora. Isn’t it beautiful?
J: Wow! I’ve never seen this before!
W: You can only see this magical phenomenon from October to March at the North Pole. And some of the Operators will use fluorescent lamps to make a fake aurora.
J: Fluorescent lamps!?
W: Yep.
J: Ha! Ha!
J: It’s almost the end of this episode. Thanks for watching!
J&W: Bye Bye!

「kimono」的圖片搜尋結果Kevin: Today is Doll Festival in Japan. Look! There are so many people wearing kimonos and getas. Let’s visit a shop here.Kevin: Hello! Are you the owner of this kimono shop?Penny: Yes, I’ve owned this shop for 30 years. But my great grandmother started the business 200 years ago. Kevin: Wow!This shop has a long history! What sells the best here?

Penny: The kimono I’m wearing sells the best.
Kevin: I want to buy both the kimono and geta you’re wearing.
Penny: Ok! Do you want to buy them for yourself or for a friend?
Kevin: Of course, for a friend.
Penny: Ok, it’s on sale today, only 10,000 Japanese dollars.
Kevin: What? This robe costs 10,000 dollars?
Penny: It’s already very cheap. Usually a kimono costs at least 80,000 Japanese dollars.
Kevin: Why is a kimono so expensive?
Penny: There is a long history of our kimonos. 16,000 years ago, our ancestors wore a simple kind of kimono. 10,000 years ago, they began…
Kevin: Ah… (Yawning) Ok, ok…The history is really long. Is there any other thing I should know about kimonos? Why do you Japanese carry a pillow on the back of your kimono?
Penny:That’s not a pillow. It’s a bow-knot made into the belt.
Kevin: WHAT?! That’s not a pillow? (Sniffing…) What’s so smelly here?
You’re so stinky. Did you wash your kimono?
Penny: We don’t wash kimonos. We put the kimonos out in the sun.
Kevin:Wow! Can the sun kill all the germs?
Penny: I suppose so. We don’t want water to spoil the kimono.
「geta」的圖片搜尋結果Kevin: I see. Ok. I will buy it next year. Can I ask about your shoes? Maybe they are cheaper and I can afford them.
Penny:OK! They are 1000 Japanese dollars.
Kevin: Why do Japanese wear getas?
Penny:It snows a lot in winter here. We don’t want to get our getas wet.
Kevin: Why don’t you wear rain boots?
Penny: That’s a good idea.
Kevin: Ok! Give me a pair.
Penny: Thank you for coming.

艾菲爾鐵塔與法國美食Eiffel Tower and French Gourmet
  by William & Mandy

W: Good afternoon everyone, I am William.
M: I am Mandy.
W: Today we are going to talk about travel in France.
M: Now we are at the Eiffel Tower in Paris, France. We are going to interview the ticket seller at the Eiffel Tower.
「Eiffel tower」的圖片搜尋結果W: Hello, I am the ticket seller here.
M: Is the job easy for you?
W: Noooooo, definitely not! Everyday I sell thousands of tickets; every year there are 7 million people coming here.
M: So …
W: Whenever the elevator opens, people run out from the elevator and smash me into meat sauce. Another time, a woman tried to commit suicide from here, landed on a car and later married the person who owned the car.
A: So are you proud of your job?
W: Definitely yes﹗I am very proud to work at the most beautiful tower in the whole of the world﹗
W: Hello, I am reporter William.
W: There is a dessert shop over there. The dessert in Paris is very famous. Let’s go and see it.
M: Welcome to Marletti Dessert shop.
W: What’s the most famous dessert in your shop?
M: It our pie; it’s from a secret recipe from my great great great great great grandfather
W: So you just need to make the pie again and again and you will make a lot of money.
M: Almost, but if there are no customers to buy the pie, we won’t make any money.
「French tasty pie」的圖片搜尋結果W: But there will always be customers to buy your pie.

M: Sometimes we feel a kind of food is delicious, but other people think it is not. So we should respect the snack culture in different places and share foods together.
W: And I think we need to protect old buildings like the Eiffel Tower because those buildings are historical sites that can help us learn about history.
M: We hope you enjoyed our coverage.
W M: Thank you for listening.
W M: (Bow)

Shine: Hello sir , what are you doing?
Daniel: こんにちは、この仕事は押し屋です(Kon'nichiwa, kono shigoto wa oshi-yadesu)
Daniel: この仕事はあまり簡単ではありません (Kono shigoto wa amari kantande wa arimasen)
Shine: Sorry, this show is for Americans - do you speak English?
Daniel: Sure. Hello! This job is called the Train Stuffer.
Daniel: This work isn’t very easy.
Shine: Really? How do you do it?
Daniel: We push passengers into the subway.
Shine: Have you ever had problems when you are working?
Daniel: Yes, sometimes if passengers lose their belongings, they will sue us. Once, a woman lost her cell phone. She told people that I took it when I pushed her. I \ have never done that.  I was working. If I took it, people would see it.
Shine: Wow! So sad! What happened then?
Daniel: I spent a whole day in the police station with that woman, missing my breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Shine: Really? How did this story end?
Daniel: It’s not a story. It’s a misunderstanding. That woman’s husband accidentally put it in his briefcase and took it to work.
Shine: This is really not an easy job. You need to solve problems like defending yourself in a police station.
Shine: Let’s talk about money. How much do you earn monthly?
Daniel:  Well, it depends on how many people we serve.
Shine: People say your job has one of the 7 highest salaries in the world.
Shine: Thank you for your time, goodbye.
Daniel: See you next time!

Shine: I have heard about a cool job called the Ravenmaster at the London Tower, lets go and find them.
Shine: Ok, I’m in England now. I am beside the Tower of London. Look! What is that person doing?
Shine: Hello sir, what are you doing?
「ravenmaster」的圖片搜尋結果Daniel: Hello, my name is Daniel. I'm the the Ravenmaster.

Shine: What is the Ravenmaster?
Daniel: Ravenmasters are retired from the Army with at least 22 years of service.
Daniel: And Ravenmasters need to help crows stay in the Tower.
Shine: How do you do it?
Daniel: I just need to wait for crows to come and trap them in a cage.
Shine: Really? This work is so easy.
Daniel: Of course not! Ravenmasters need to give crows snacks to make them stay in the Tower.
Shine: What else?
Daniel: We do this only.
Shine: Hnnnn? You do this only?
Daniel: Just kidding.
Daniel: We whistle a special tune to call the crows to bed.
Shine: If there are no crows in the tower, what will it happen
Daniel: If there aren’t at least six crows living within the Tower, both the Tower and
the monarchy will fall.
Daniel: Shhhhh! Cats sometimes eat crows, so there are no more crows in the tower. We need to buy some at the pet shop. Please don’t tell others, please.
Shine: Really? So the tower will fall soon? I need to run away before it falls.
Shine: Goodbye.
Daniel: No! Please don’t go. That is just an old folktale. Nooooooooooo!
